Bath and Bristol paintings

The architecture in the center of Bath is made up of the yellowish (“honey-coloured”) Bath-stone. This reflects more light than the absorbing reddish brick that we see in Dutch cities. It took some time to get used to the streets that are not always flat, many streets walk up or down which gives a strange perspective. Sometimes a hill rises above the city in the distance. Bath is chic, well-groomed and urban. Bristol more adventurous and much larger.

I find both cities are clean. In some paintings you can also see the municipal cleaners who keep the city tidy. Their fluorescent clothing provide a fresh contrast within the dark shadows
